Hello NEC Team!
Thank you for allowing me to share my acts of service.
I am an organizer who uses art and the power of community to encourage social change and well-being. For over a decade, I have used my talents as an artist, storyteller, and coordinator to create harmony within communities.
I have more than 7 years of experience in mass communication, event planning, peer management, marketing, outreach, and website management. I possess excellent creative and communication skills, and I am deeply committed to advocating for the arts, social justice, and community empowerment. I am proficient in peer-to-peer public relations, leading a team, and project management.
I am currently based in Los Angeles, CA, where I continue to create and perform music, curate live experiences, and collaborate with other passionate creatives.
Please take a look at some examples of my work below.
Creating community with love.
I value ownership and creative freedom not only for myself but also for others. That's why I founded an organization called LxVE (Love x Value Everything & Everyone). Our aim is to create safe physical and digital spaces for creatives to express themselves, tell their stories, and connect with like-minded individuals. We strive to spread love and bring the arts to underserved communities by providing access to resources, education, and opportunities to create while giving them platforms to showcase their work and spread love.
Building community through programming.
In my current capacity as a Program Coordinator at Painted Brain, I have overseen the implementation of numerous arts grants, created curricula, and facilitated peer training programs at both the local and state levels. I have also spearheaded the expansion of our organization's community center programming and local engagement. I’ve lead organizing over 10 events reaching over 600 members of our local community. I’ve also developed curriculum and led peer digital literacy training to over 200 peers in and around California.
Local and Global Solidarity
I have been fortunate to expand my advocacy work at both the local and global level through my participation in prestigious programs like the Arts For LA Emerging Arts Leaders 2022-2023 Programming Cohort and the OneBeat Ghana Artist Fellowship 2023.
As a member of the Arts For LA Emerging Arts Leaders Programming Committee, I gained valuable professional experience in community engagement and event planning by organizing three public events for the Arts for LA community.
Thanks to the OneBeat Ghana Artist Fellowship, I was able to participate in a two-week international residency that helped me exchange ideas and develop strategies for building stronger artist communities and creative economies. This fellowship also allowed me to develop ways to bridge the gap between the black diaspora in Ghana and the United States within my founded organization LxVE. We are now currently developing our own international residency program.
