All I Ever Wanted
All I Ever Wanted - A Journey Three Years in the Making
Sometimes the universe has a funny way of timing things. This past weekend, I found myself with a rare pocket of free time and something just clicked. I walked into my home studio and recorded "All I Ever Wanted" in less than thirty minutes—a song I've been carrying around in the notes app on my phone for nearly three years.
I've always been someone who holds onto music too long. I'll write something, then let it sit, thinking it needs to be perfect, get busy, write another song I get more excited about, or waiting for the "right moment" to record it. But lately, I've been challenging myself to break that pattern. Life's too short to keep your art locked away.
"All I Ever Wanted" started as this remix idea built around Potatohead People's track "Luxury." If you don't know their work, you're missing out—this Canadian producer duo creates some of the most soulful, textured beats I've ever heard. Their sound has this way of making you feel nostalgic for moments you haven't even lived yet.
But this song became something much more personal than just a remix. It's really about that endless chase we all find ourselves in—wanting more money, more recognition, more success, more things. I've been there, trust me. There were times I thought if I could just get that next opportunity, that next break, then I'd finally feel complete.
The funny thing is, the deeper I've gotten into my faith journey, the more I've realized that all that striving was just noise. Don't get me wrong—I still have goals and dreams, and I'm still working toward them. But there's this peace that comes from knowing that my relationship with God is the foundation everything else is built on. When I have that closeness, that connection, everything else falls into perspective.
That's what this song is really about. It's me being honest about the longing, the searching, and ultimately finding that what I wanted most was already available to me.
I decided to release this exclusively to my Patreon supporters first because you all have been with me through this journey. You've seen the struggles, the growth, the questions, and the discoveries. This feels like a conversation I'm having with friends rather than just putting another song into the world.
If this track resonates with you and you haven't checked out "Until I Get Home EP" yet, I think you'd really connect with those songs too. They're all part of the same story I'm trying to tell—this messy, beautiful process of figuring out who we are and what really matters.
Thanks for listening, for supporting, and for being part of this journey with me. It means more than you know.
Much LxVE,
-Alfred
